On November 22, 2024, a critical Oil Spill Equipment Deployment Exercise was conducted at the Dikovita Fishery Harbour, in parallel with the SACEP Symposium and the Regional Capacity Building Programme in the South Asian region. This initiative was organized by the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, with invaluable support from the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP).
The exercise served as a hands-on demonstration of oil spill response readiness, ensuring the region is prepared for effective management of marine pollution emergencies. Participants, including experts and authorities from across South Asia, demonstrated their commitment to safeguarding the health of our oceans and protecting the livelihoods of coastal communities.
Together, we can protect our oceans for future generations!
