The Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) is proud to announce the National Program for World Oceans Day 2025, a significant event dedicated to raising awareness and promoting action for marine conservation.

We invite individuals, families, organizations, and businesses to participate in this national celebration.

Art & Creativity for Ocean Awareness:

01. On-the-Spot Beach Art Competition: Unleash your creativity on the sand! Express your vision for a healthier ocean through art.( Drawing competition )

Sea Sand Art Competition: Sculpt and create magnificent artworks using only sand and natural beach elements, celebrating the beauty of our coastal environment.
Creating Products from Marine Litter: A unique opportunity to transform discarded marine litter into meaningful creations, highlighting the importance of waste management and recycling.
Educate & Inspire:

02.Educational Video Display: Immerse yourselves in captivating videos on critical marine topics:

Marine Biodiversity: Discover the incredible variety of life beneath the waves.
Marine Pollution: Understand the threats and impacts of pollution on our oceans.

Participants: MEPA, NARA, Uva Wellassa University, Ocean University, SL Navy, NGOs, Diving Centers Representatives.

05.Beach Volleyball Tournaments ("For Display: Volleyball Tournament")

06.Ocean-Based Sustainable Business Exhibition (All Day): Explore the exciting world of the "Blue Economy." Businesses showcasing ocean-based sustainable practices will provide insights and hands-on experiences into opportunities within this vital sector.

07.Beach Cleanup: A collective effort to keep our shores pristine. Join us at Port City Beach to make a tangible difference.

09.Marine Zoo A captivating display of marine life, offering a unique opportunity to connect with the wonders of the ocean.
