The Laboratory of the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA), located in the Galle District, operates under the direction of a chemist. Technical coordination and consultation are provided by the General Manager of the Authority.
We offer physical, chemical, and biological testing for seawater, wastewater, swimming pool water, and drinking water. In addition to that, we provide Micro plastic testing for water, biota and sediment samples.

Water Quality Measurement (Both Fresh and Sea Water)
Our laboratory provides all the facilities you need, supported by reliable and precise technology and a team of highly qualified professionals. As a leading state-owned laboratory, our operations are conducted under the ISO 17025:2017 Laboratory Management System, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.
We offer physical, chemical, and biological testing for seawater, wastewater, swimming pool water, and drinking water. In addition to that, we provide Micro plastic testing for water, biota and sediment samples. The laboratory primarily engaged in operational and verification monitoring of water quality, collaborative research programs, and the promotion of training. Currently, the MEPA laboratory delivers a comprehensive range of water quality monitoring services to assist industries in meeting their legal obligations and complying with environmental regulations.
Water quality testing services are available on a commercial basis.
